Coincidentally Purim and Easter

Of the modern canon of scriptures, I have to ask myself, why is there a book in the scriptures that makes no mention of Yahweh?  The book of Esther, seems out of place.  Earliest known reference to Purim outside of the book of Esther is II Maccabees 15:36 in which Purim is called Mordecai's Day.

The first thing that grabs my attention about the book of Esther is the similarity to the name, “Easter”.  Let’s examine and compare the two stories:

EASTER AS PRESENTED IN KJV ACTS 12:4

Pesach (Hebrew) in english is Passover, Easter is Ishtar, (Semiramis, widow of Nimrod, mother of Tammuz) the name of the bare breasted pagan fertility goddess of the east who came out of heaven in a giant egg, landing in the Euphrates river at sunrise on the first Sunday after the veral equinox, busting out turning a bird into an egg laying rabbit. After that point in time the priest of Easter would sacrifice infants and then take the eggs of Easter and die them in the blood of the sacrificed infants. These eggs would hach on December 25th and that is where that pagan Holy Day comes from.

Est 3:13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

Est 4:4 So Est's maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

I see this story as a refashioned version of the Easter story.

Est 8:15 And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

What do we know about this book?

Only canonical text not found among the Dead Sea Scrolls

Named after the heroine, Esther

Yahweh is never mentioned or referred to by name

Tells the story which is the basis of the festival of Purim

Controversial book even in early Christian church

The tale celebrates the triumph of the Babylonian deities Marduk and Ishtar (which seem phonetically similar to the names of the heroes in this book - Esther for Ishtar and Marduk for Mordechai) over the deities of Elam or more likely the renewal of life in the spring and the casting out of the scapegoat of the old year. Although this view is not widely held by the religious scholars today, it remains well known. It is explored in depth in the works of Theodor Gaster.
