The Failed Prophecies of the New Testament PDF Print E-mail
Let's discuss a few of the many failed prophecies that are in the New Testament!
 
But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!"  Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." - Matthew 26:63-64 - Well to start with I highly doubt the historicity of this verse, but none the less, the high priest mentioned in this verse has been dead for two thousand years, so this is most certainly a failed prophecy.

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. - 1 Thessalonians 4:17 - This verse clearly says we who are alive, Paul was most certainly including himself in the equation, so this is most certainly a failed prophecy of the New Testament.  I have no doubt that Paul, and most other Christians of the first century for that matter expected the second coming to be in their lifetime, but none the less, this is still a failed prophecy, and according to Deuteronomy 13 this automatically makes Paul a false prophet.

Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand. - Revelations 1:3 - It has been two thousand years later and still nothing has happened!

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. - Revelations 1:7 - This verse suffers from the same problem as our first verse.  We all know the Romans that took part in Yahushua's/Jesus' execution are dead and gone and they are not coming back to life, so this verse is completely illogical, and therefore yet another failed prophecy of the New Testament.

Behold, I come quickly: blessed [is] he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. - Revelation 22:7 - It has been two thousand years since those words were written, so just use a little logic and think about this for a moment.  I believe that was failed prophecy number five.

And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. - Revelations 22:10 - It has been two thousand years and these things have still not occurred.  You can say that Revelations is referring to Nero, but guess what, Nero didn't even fulfill half the things that are written in this book, so if it was written about Nero, it is most certainly a failed prophecy.  Nero, or no Nero, this book is most certainly set during the first century at the end of the Second Temple era, and we all know that all of these things did not occur during that time period.  The world is still in the same sad shape it was before, so don't give me that allegory nonsense, because the majority of the Book of Revelations was meant to be taken literally, so unfortunately this is failed prophecy number six, and on the broad scale of things this is provably the biggest failed prophecy of the entire New Testament.

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. - Revelations 22:12 - Again, do I need to remind you that it has been two thousand years since this was written, and these things have still not occurred.

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. - Revelations 22:10 - Unfortunately, this really destroys the authors credibility.  The author testified that the second coming was going to occur very soon, but again it has been two thousand years and it still has not occurred.

This is the type of stuff that I used to sweep under the rug and try to ignore, but there comes a time that you must investigate your faith to see if what you believe is the truth or not, so I hope this helps someone else who is trying to make that difficult journey down the road of truth.

None of the prophecies have failed. They refer to the end of the age, which is yet to come.

Don't be thrown off by the many references in the Brit Chadashah to 'soon', 'at hand' and so on. The people who wrote those things correctly understood from the Prophets that when Messiah came, the Day of YHWH was at hand and would be followed by the New Heavens, the New Earth, and the Messianic Kingdom.

However the Pharisees rejected Yeshua, so He returned to His place in fulfilment of Hosea 5:15. He will not return until the modern-day Pharisees have put away their oral law and returned to the Torah, and are ready to say to Him "Blessed is He who comes in the name of YHWH" (Matthew 23:39). Also, when they see Him "who they pierced, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son" (Zechariah 12:10), because of their realisation that if their fathers had not been so hard-hearted, the Kingdom could have been restored 2000 years ago.

As for genealogy, Mary was related to Elizabeth, who was of Aaron (Luke 1:36). Therefore she had the genes from both tribes, which she passed onto Yeshua. Therefore Yeshua had the genes from both Judah and Aaron, making Him uniquely qualified to be King and Priest in One, i.e. Messiah.

Be careful not to elevate the opinions of the sages above Moshe, which is sin (Deuteronomy 12:32). They might have been wise and discerning in many things, but were badly mistaken in their rejection of Yeshua. Unfortunately such teachings are just as much a roadblock in Judaism, as the doctrines of lawlessness are in Christianity.

So be patient just a bit longer, and all these things will come to pass. Shalom!

They have all failed, they were referring to Nero, and the events first century. None of them have anything to do with today or the events of the future.

You could not follow one commandment in the Torah without the oral law. I used to think the same way you do until I studied the Torah more thoroughly and found out the truth for myself.

Hosea 5:15 is not a prophecy, and it is referring to God not Jesus. (Numbers 23:19) God is simply trying to get the Israelites of Hosea's day to return to God and repent.

I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplications. They will look to me because of those who they have stabbed with swords, and they shall mourn over it as one mourns over an only child and shall be in bitterness, therefore, as one is embittered over a deceased firstborn. - Zechariah 12:10

This verse quoted above from the Book of Zechariah is not referring to Jesus. It is referring to the Jews who will be killed during the war of Gog and Magog.

Mary could not have passed anything on to Jesus, because a genealogy can only be passed on through the father. (Numbers 34:14) Mary was provably a Levite, therefore, not a descendant of King David. Both genealogies in the so-called New Testament claim to be Joseph's genealogy, so they have nothing to do what so ever with Mary. The messiah has to come through King David, and according to the New Errorment, God was the father of Jesus, so was King David also the father of God? I don't think so!

Deuteronomy 12:32? Sorry, but there is no such verse in my Bible, and I don't read corrupt Christian Bibles.

Badly mistaken? Let's look at it this way: Did Jesus bring in the exiles? Did he rebuild the Temple? Did he bring peace to the world? Not only did he do none of these things, he didn't even fulfill one of the messianic prophecies that are written in the Tanach. I'm afraid these so-called messianic prophecies that Christian's use are badly taken out of context, and most of them are not even prophecies at all.
