WHY DO PEOPLE STILL FOLLOW PAUL? PDF Print E-mail

A troubling question for me. I could not for the Life of me understand why leaving the teachings of Paul alone is such a problem for some people. Even after you show them that the man contradicted himself and the Messiah... in some cases blatantly lying as he did in Galatians 2 about "confronting Peter to the face" as opposed to Acts 15 where Peter wasn't even IN Antioch. No matter how many ways you show people... THEY LOVE PAUL. He is like the Kobe Bryant of the Bible to people... and they will fight tooth, nail, and pocketbook to reconcile his teachings... BUT WHY??

I now understand.

Paul was not the sharpest linguist as his epistles clearly show... BUT... the spirit leading him was extremely clever. Paul's doctrine seduces men on the basest of levels.

1. It promises FREE SALVATION... (kinda like avons free gift with purchase)... come on... who doesn't like more for less or better yet nothing at all?

2. It promises super powers. Who doesn't want to be able to speak like a mystical angelic language... or have power to raise the dead? Even better is that those inductees may get the "very best gifts" if they pray hard enough for them!

3. It gives the most opportunistic and savvy an opportunity to cash in on the gullibility of the masses. Turn on TBN and you will see this at work right before your eyes. The definition of Christian "Ministry" has become... get a following who pays your bills. The more people who follow you and give you money equates to... the level of "anointing" you possess.

4. It gives men total control over women. Now I don't EVEN need to explain THAT one LOL. What is funny though is that those particular teachings that people don't like... they ignore. Hence the Juanita Bynum's and Taffy Dollar's of the world... teaching variations of Paul's doctrine... while disobeying that same doctrine and most importantly the Laws of Yah ALL at the same time!! It is stupefying.

Im sure that there are more reasons... but these four I find to be the most prevalent... even among people professing to follow the law. Why the words of Yahushua are not enough for people... I will NEVER know.

You are right about people loving their Paul. To me he has never done anything but muddy the waters or add confusion and loopholes to anything that Jesus said. I never did like him, so it was easy for me to dispose of him. Just didn't know I could! When I started to read about the all the inconsistencies in his message compared with Jesus' I was amazed. I had noticed some but had no idea where some of his ideas came from. Now that I know what he is all about, I want nothing to do with him. That makes it hard to talk to others on any scriptural subject, since they always refer to Paul to justify their position. It boggles their mind to hear that I reject Paul's teachings. It is truly amazing that when you point out the Paul's contradictions that others don't see them at all. Wow! To them, it is all love, love, love. It reminds me of the Love feasts mentioned at Jude 12.

Thanks for this blog. I have given up tearing my hair out over this question. Every now and again i picture facing Paul in heaven on judgement day......... 'cos i still can't even like the man and his convoluted teachings.
Anyone ever consider that MAYBE he was converted in the end and will be sitting in the jury in heaven.... eeeek...
