When I was reading from the Torah portion today where Rachel was giving birth to Benjamin and dying and how she called him something to the effect of "son of my mourning" and then Jacob ended up changing his name to something of the effect of "son of my right hand" it made me see a thematic connection when Rebekkah knew that the birthright should go to Jacob instead of Esau, whereas jacob had favored Esau...so i don't know if i have totally gone off the deep end and am imagining things or if the connection i am seeing is correct...that when Rachel was giving Benjamin a negative name that it was kind of a prophecy for what paul (being a benjaminite) would deceive the world and then jacob didn't realize that rachel was prophesying? maybe i have totally lost it but i really feel like it was a big thematic connection to the whole rebekkah thing where she was told about the twins when they were in her womb so she knew the difference between esau and jacob....
